Dispute merchant charge on My American Express Charge Card

Hello,   I tried to return a chair and ottoman to King's Gallery in Palo Alto. I returned it on the 7th day and was within the 21 day posted return policy. What should I do?!

The merchant ran down the street as I left the chair and ottoman, saying "This is not our chair, we're not taking it back."

I called American Express and they said they'd take it off my bill. Is there anything else I should do?!

Anything input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I sound like a broken record, but the first thing you have to know about credit disputes is that nothing happens when you talk on the phone. If you get it in writing you have a prayer, if you're talking on the phone, you have nothing but air.

Dear American Express,

I am disputing the merchant charge with King's Gallery in Palo Alto. I returned it on the 7th day and was within the 21 day posted return policy.

The merchant ran down the street as I left the chair and ottoman, saying "This is not our chair, we're not taking it back." She also ripped up the receipt. She then locked the door and left the business.

As witness, I have Palo Alto police that saw me attempt to return the chair in good faith.

Please reverse the charge of $625.
